Amy Stengel is a contract attorney with Flatiron Legal Advisors. Licensed to practice law in Colorado since 2003, Amy currently advises clients in all family law matters as well as estate planning. She believes that clients are best served when attorneys can problem solve and facilitate solutions that are unique to the circumstances of the family, taking into consideration the needs of the parties and most importantly any children involved. She is trained in Collaborative Law and has successfully mediated numerous family law disputes. In those instances when settlement is not possible, she advocates mindfully on behalf of her clients and is careful to avoid escalating conflict.
Amy has diverse experience working in private practice firms as well as in the public sector. She began her legal career in environmental law. She was an Assistant Attorney General in the natural resources and environment section of the Colorado AG's office for eight years where she provided general counsel to state agencies. She also volunteers with Metro Volunteer Lawyers and other organizations to improve access to legal services for under-served communities.
Amy received her JD from Tulane Law School in New Orleans. She is a graduate of Colby College in Maine where she majored in anthropology and lived and studied abroad in Latin America. Amy enjoys adventures in the outdoors with her family, especially rafting the rivers of the West and skiing.
