Randy Gunter

Estate Planning Attorney

Randy Gunter, a third generation native Texan, lives and works in Hays and Liberty Counties. Licensed to practice law in Texas in 2001, Randy spent his first few years at Bracewell & Patterson, working in both the public law and litigation sections of the firm.

He has served as City Attorney for several cities and General Counsel for two school districts. Randy’s practice now focuses on estate planning, wills and trusts, and probate law. He also serves as a Section 504 and Grievance Hearing Officer for Texas school districts and conducts investigations when appropriate.

Randy Gunter earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center where he wrote for the law review and practiced as a student attorney in the Law Center’s clinical program – a program where he later became an adjunct professor. Randy earned his bachelor’s degree at Texas State University.

Randy enjoys spending time with his wife, Jenny, and their three adult sons and their families. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Randy was a teacher, and was selected as Teacher of the Year at two different school districts. He has coached ten state championship teams in UIL Literary Criticism.

Randy’s current practice in estate planning allows him to get to know and work with families in naming guardians for minor children, planning for the transition of family property and other wealth from one generation to another through Wills and Trusts – often with the opportunity to avoid the expenses of court and conflict – all with the heart of a teacher.
